How it all began

Small acts of kindness can lead to powerful change
In 2007 a lady called Nadia got in touch with Yolanda Potgieter to tell her that she had heard of Nomatha in Khayelitsha Site C, that needed assistance. Nomatha was running a crèche in the informal settlement and needed food, clothing and a safer environment for the kids she was looking after. Nadia had family members in Canada that agreed to put a notice in their local newspaper to ask for clothing donations that they could ship to South Africa for Nomatha.
Little did Nadia and Yolanda know that customs would charge them a fortune to get clearance on the goods, as at that stage they weren’t a registered NPO. They had to fight for months to get the fees reduced and the container released. This is when they decided to start the NPO registration process.

Nadia and Yolanda partnered on this project and received funding and sponsorships from various sources. The Freddie Mercury Phoenix Trust came on board as they sponsored HIV/Aids related projects.

After a few years they completed the Zamuxolo Educare Centre project and then moved onto another in Phillipi East Township, where Zandele had a similar challenge with kids she was looking after. This project was presented to us by Martez and Tanya. We yet again received support from various sponsors and the MPT as well as Lufthansa. This was when Tanya Fourie was asked to join on the board of directors.

Since then Just Charity has worked on and contributed to so many different projects and have been so blessed with help from various individuals and companies.

There is so much more we can write about our charity, but thought we would keep it short and let you explore the photos and individual projects on our website for more detail. Currently we have a small Educare Centre on a farm called Anna Beulah just outside Durbanville.

We would also like to give a HUGE thanks to every single person and company that help with sponsorships and their time over the last 11 years! We could NOT do this without you!

If you have any questions, please drop us an email at info@justcharity.co.za or your can email us directly from the website.
REMEMBER: small acts of kindness can lead to powerful change.
